What Is Hypnosis?

Ah, hypnosis. What is it, you may ask? Well, there are many definitions on the subject, and many differing areas of discussion on the matter. However, out of all these arguments, one definition remains prevalent in the defining of this wonderful state of mind. So, what is the meaning of hypnosis?
Hypnosis is, as mentioned above, a state of mind, one in which we enter into practically every day. Have you ever sat in front of a television, staring deep into the penetrating rays, while completely oblivious of your physical surroundings? Being so involved in the plot of the drama or comedy that is being played out on the screen, that you completely lose touch with your outside reality (not that you go crazy while watching TV)? That's hypnosis. You, whether you like it or not, were in a trance.

Hypnosis is defined as a state of relaxation, and of inner “reorganization”. You are “reorganizing” your thoughts, beliefs and ideas about a situation in your life that you want to change. When you are in a deeply relaxed state, as which needs be if you want to create a deep and lasting change, your mind dips down into a low, calm state, where suggestions and ideas can be embedded within your subconscious so you can change your life for the better.
Now that we have established what hypnosis IS, let us establish what hypnosis ISN'T. Hypnosis is not a technique for making your friends or family members think they are chickens, dogs, or other farm animals. Hypnosis will not let you divulge information about yourself against your will, and it cannot make people do things that are morally objectionable to them.
Hopefully this hasn't taken all the fun out of hypnosis for you. If it has, consider all the wonderful things you can do with your own mind. Could you perhaps activate your psychic powers, change your memories, lose weight, find inner peace, remove wrinkles, enliven your soul and your body, create beauty within and without, or attract love, wealth, and success with hypnosis? You sure can, and to tell you the truth, all of that sounds much better to me than controlling others, and is much more productive in developing absolute success.
Before you navigate through the rest of this site, why don't you find out what hypnosis really is, by actually experiencing it? The video below will provide you with that trance state you need to get all warm and cozy inside (or at least, help you relax). Be sure to wear headphones so your brain can get all the benefits of brainwave entrainment (see What Is Brainwave Entrainment?).

Now that you have experienced a light trance, wait until you have experienced a full-blown hypnosis session. A blissful state of mind that makes you feel so good, so energized and alive, and so control of your life, that you can't help but smile.
